About the book:

Thomas Hoobler has written many books for young people and adults, mostly in collaboration with his wife Dorothy. They won the Edgar Award for Best YA novel for their book, IN DARKNESS, DEATH. My Thoughts: 

The Cover: I really liked the cover design for Come Sit by Me. It is eerie. Part human, part skeleton. I definitely would have read the book based on the cover alone.

The Plot:  While Come Sit by Me was a good story that moved along at a smooth pace, I couldn't help but feel like there was more to the story. It was a very simple plot and I pretty much had it all figured out by about halfway through.

The Characters: Our characters were fairly well written, but each seemed to fit very neatly into their specific boxes. Our protagonist, curious about the previous tenant of his locker, and can't let it go. He is trying to fit in and be cool at his new school. Then there are the football jocks and the insecure girls who worship them and will do whatever they ask. Our villain, who, by all appearances, follows the rules, but is really hiding a big secret. Everyone was easy to read and fairly predictable.

Is it Worth Reading?:  Yes, if you are looking for an easy, uncomplicated read, this is definitely it. Entertaining, with a subject that disturbs many, Come Sit by Me was an interesting story. I recommend Come Sit by Me to readers of YA mystery and give it 3 out of 5 crossbows!
